SHe-Box

Sexual Harassment electronic Box (SHe-Box) is an initiative of the Government of India (GoI) to provide a single window access to every woman, irrespective of her work status—whether in the organised or unorganised, private or public sector—to facilitate the registration of complaints related to sexual harassment. Any woman facing sexual harassment at the workplace can register her complaint through this portal. Once submitted, the complaint is directly sent to the concerned authority having jurisdiction to take appropriate action.

About SHe-Box
The Government of India has enacted the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 with the objective of creating a safe and secure workplace for women, free from sexual harassment. This Act applies to women in both organised and unorganised sectors and establishes a structured redressal mechanism for handling complaints.

The Act is unique in its broad and inclusive coverage, encompassing all women regardless of employment status, sector, or hierarchy. It also includes domestic workers within its scope. Sexual harassment is defined comprehensively to include situations involving explicit or implicit threats to employment, creation of a hostile work environment, or humiliating treatment that may affect a woman’s health and safety.

For more details, users are encouraged to refer to the FAQ section available on the portal. The SHe-Box platform once again serves as a centralized system to ensure that complaints are handled efficiently and reach the appropriate authorities without delay.

Registering Complaints
To register a complaint through SHe-Box, a valid email ID and mobile number are required. Users can click on the “Register Your Complaint” tab available on the home screen. For additional guidance, please refer to the User Manual uploaded on the website.

Repository of Resources
The SHe-Box portal also provides a comprehensive resource repository on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013. This includes the Act and its rules in both Hindi and English, along with a practical handbook and training modules designed to build awareness and capacity among government officials and organizations.

The repository further includes guidelines, advisories, and official memorandums issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). All materials are available for free viewing and download. Additionally, the portal features videos to promote awareness and understanding of the Act among users.
